Celebrate 16 Years of DeviantArt
DeviantArt launched 16 years ago, providing a community of artists and art appreciators with a place to call home. Now, on August 7th, as we celebrate our Sweet Sixteen, we’re bringing a birthday celebration to our deviants around the world! From the comfort of your computer, help us celebrate the reason we’re all here today — our vibrant and inspirational community!
Standing at the cusp of Internet-adulthood, it’s always enjoyable to look back and embrace the carefree days of our artistic youth. This year, while adult coloring books are

Comment Month: Commenting Begins!
Back at the beginning of the month, we announced the start of our Comment Month for July. We received a good few submissions in our folders here and here, so, for the rest of this month, it's time to get commenting!
7th - 31st July: Anybody and everybody can comment on the submissions we received for Comment Month. More information on the day.
1st - 7th August: Comment Month is over, but other things are just beginning. Deviants who have commented constructively on over three submissions will receive a news and page feature, and any deviations that have not received any comments will also be featured. More information on the day.

No matter the reason, any stay in a hospital could use a little sunshine. And what better way to brighten a hospital stay than with art from the heart?
After nine successful years of DeviantArt's #HolidayCardProject, we've decided to bring the project to the summer months, for the first ever #SummerCardProject!
The idea behind this project is simple: create an inspirational card to brighten the day of someone staying in a hospital. If you're looking for even more incentive, every deviant who sends in a card will be given a free one-month Core Membership to DeviantArt.
Last December, the project received over 4,500 cards sent in from 2,000
The strenght of DeviantArt by Trichardsen, journal
The strenght of DeviantArt
There is one particlar aspect of DeviantArt and those who use this site that really stands out among any other.
I do get quite a lot of questions about photography on all the websites I post my images, there are largely simular questions but the differences are undeniable.
On DeviantArt most are actually interested in the artistic side of photography, mainly composition but also a large part how I was thinking about the situation before taking the image.
I actually looked through most of the messages I have gotten here in comparison to what I got on any other site, questions about the artistic side of photography was at about a 6 to 1 rati

Alongside our Monthly Photography Critique Thread, we are hosting a Comment Month this February!
Every single one of us deserves at least one insightful comment on our deviations. We have all needed to start somewhere and some just need that extra boost to really get going.
Our timeline is as follows:1st – 7th February: Members of CRPhotography (https://www.deviantart.com/crphotography) can suggest one deviation for a chance to receive some comments. This is a chance for any underappreciated artist to get the comments they deserve.
7th - 29th February: Anybody and everybody can comment on the submissions we received for Comment Month. More information on the day.

Photography Discussions: Social Media by Mrs-Durden, journal
Photography Discussions: Social Media
For the past year we've been hosting monthly Photography Debates at CRPhotography (https://www.deviantart.com/crphotography). However, 12 months later, it seems we've covered most of the 'big' debates, and would be getting too specific if we tried to continue finding new topics. So we're shifting gears: instead of 'debates' we just want to promote a specific discussion for the month. We wanna hear your opinions, engage with you about them, and see you engage with each other as well! So here's a new topic of this transformed series:
Social Media: Which site do you find best for photographers?
Tell us about which website you find best in terms of promotion, networking, and other impo

The journey to capture Change
Capturing Change was a collaborative assignment created by DeviantArt, in partnership with Sony, to bring together four photographers from the community, each in a different country, and have them document changes in their surrounding cities and cultures, using Alpha cameras.
I was invited to be part of this project at the end of October and was very excited to learn that I would be working with three amazing Deviants – the beautiful and talented OliviaMichalski (https://www.deviantart.com/oliviamichalski), from Germany, the ingenious darkdex52 (https://www.deviantart.com/darkdex52), from El Salvador, and, from Dubai, the not-so-beautiful yet deviously skilled MARX77 (https://www.deviantart.com/marx77).
